The design, featuring a repeating ‘BR’ motif, was originally part of the interior textiles range produced by British Railways and launched at the Festival of Britain Exhibition in 1951. Carpet featuring this pattern was installed in 1st class compartments the length of the country and can still be found in use at heritage steam railways across the UK to this day.
