The Product
Authentic heritage era moquette now available by the metre for upholstery and handicraft projects large and small. Comes as a custom cut piece directly from the roll, your chosen size in length and 1.27 metres in width. All our moquettes have been faithfully and accurately recreated from clean, non-faded samples of original fabric and archive documentation, and are manufactured using authentic techniques.
Our moquettes are primarily made for use in the restoration of rolling stock at the nation's heritage steam railways, and as such this cloth is finished by hand to comply with all UK Railway Safety, Durability and Flammability requirements. It is therefore an extremely hard-wearing material with great stain-resistance properties. This cloth is the real deal and we guarantee you will not be disappointed.
The Pattern - Fleur de Lys
An early version of this design, featuring a chocolate brown background, was introduced by the Southern Railway in the 1930's. We offer the post-war version, with a burgundy background.
This pattern enjoyed a long service life, being adopted by British Railways and later used in the construction of Mk 1 suburban coaches until the mid 1950's.
Delivery
All by-the-metre orders are cut to order and shipped using a tracked 48hr courier. Small orders are sent boxed whilst larger orders are sent on a roll. We take our environmental impact seriously and try to reduce packaging materials wherever possible. We only use plastic packaging materials where absolutely necessary and we are constantly looking for new ways to make all transactions as carbon-light as possible.
