The Product

Authentic heritage era moquette now available by the metre for upholstery and handicraft projects large and small.  Comes as a custom cut piece directly from the roll, your chosen size in length and 1.27 metres in width. All our moquettes have been faithfully and accurately recreated from clean, non-faded samples of original fabric and archive documentation, and are manufactured using authentic techniques.

Our moquettes are primarily made for use in the restoration of rolling stock at the nation's heritage steam railways, and as such this cloth is finished by hand to comply with all UK Railway Safety, Durability and Flammability requirements.  It is therefore an extremely hard-wearing material with great stain-resistance properties.  This cloth is the real deal and we guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The Pattern - Provincial Blue

The end of the British Rail era saw a move away from the traditional stitched moquette method of upholstering, to one which involved fitted repp-type covers that could be easily removed for cleaning. These did not prove to be as successful as had been hoped and there was a gradual move back towards the traditional techniques and materials. Provincial Blue (so-called because it was introduced by the 'Provincial' sector, later to be known as Regional Railways) was one of the first moquettes to be used after the 'washable cover' episode and went on to see widespread use within other sectors.
