The Product

Authentic heritage era moquette now available by the metre for upholstery and handicraft projects large and small.  Comes as a custom cut piece directly from the roll, your chosen size in length and 1.27 metres in width. All our moquettes have been faithfully and accurately recreated from clean, non-faded samples of original fabric and archive documentation, and are manufactured using authentic techniques.

Our moquettes are primarily made for use in the restoration of rolling stock at the nation's heritage steam railways, and as such this cloth is finished by hand to comply with all UK Railway Safety, Durability and Flammability requirements.  It is therefore an extremely hard-wearing material with great stain-resistance properties.  This cloth is the real deal and we guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The Pattern - Chain Link

First introduced in 1951, this pattern is one of the earliest of the 'Festival of Britain' group of designs, commissioned for the new range of British Railways Standard coaches (later known as the Mark 1 Fleet). Possibly the most widely used of all of the Festival of Britain designs, this pattern enjoys widespread recognition and was a true workhorse of the era.

Records indicate this pattern bore the official title of 'Parentheses' however, as with many of our designs, this one developed a nickname amongst those that worked with it every day, ultimately leading to it being redesignated as 'Chain Link'.

Delivery

All by-the-metre orders are cut to order and shipped using a tracked 48hr courier. Small orders are sent boxed whilst larger orders are sent on a roll. We take our environmental impact seriously and try to reduce packaging materials wherever possible. We only use plastic packaging materials where absolutely necessary and we are constantly looking for new ways to make all transactions as carbon-light as possible.
